Wedding & Engagement & Special Events

There are common denominators when it comes to photographing events:

  • Understanding the group dynamics involved with each and every shot
  • The technical approach (various techniques) to be employed amongst these variables; the selection of lenses, adjusting all of the necessary camera settings, what means and methods you have at your disposal for balancing lighting effects, and
  • Establishing your shooting angles to create the best fit of the subjects to the environment, along with capturing the social significance of what they are participating in.

Starting out on our professional journey as photojournalists, covering civic interests and events, and topical news stories for syndicated press releases; in this function, we were under strict legal obligation to photograph everything as it existed in real-life, at that place and moment in time, no posing of subjects, no second chance shots, no photo editing… never break a sweat, just do it! Whew… a skill builder extraordinaire that was.

It was while shooting such a piece in San Antonio, TX (perhaps you have heard of the San Antonio River Walk?) that we were offered a position as staff photographers for the managing organization. We would be solely responsible for covering all events; and literally every type of legit photography. In two of us alone, we shot over 240 thousand images of the gamut of events.

Where seeing is believing, doing is everything!
